I am big fan of food, irrespective of the cuisine. But I am more of the meatier kind. I have tasted the extremes in the spectrum of different cuisines, but none worse than Maharani, an east Indian restaurant, located in the fringes of uptown Charlotte. I think creative loafing is one of the best critics about food and dining in the Charlotte area. I strongly appose CL in regards to Maharani.
We walked in for a buffet on May 28,2007, Memorial day, and found food which the pigs in India would not lay their tongues on. We had 7 options including naan ,Indian bread for 7 dollars. The chicken tasted uncooked, vegetable dishes had a rotten taste, water tasted like sweat and the sweet tea complemented the water in a fish tank. But the bread saved us all, because they don't cook it. To be short they don't have the skill nor the variety to serve a good buffet. To drive the point home, I don't know how they stay in business.
I think you will have a better chance of not puking after being stoned than a buffet at Maharani.
